CHESHIRE LIONS CLUB INFORMATION

The Cheshire Lions Club holds a variety of fundraising and community events throughout the year. These include a poster contest, wine tasting, easter egg hunt, Mother's Day flower sale, annual dinner dance for the blind, sight-saver day collections, blood drive with the red cross and the popular annual Half-Marathon & 5K Road Race. The club sponsors educational efforts such as supporting Liberty Day at Dodd middle school and scholarships for graduating high school seniors.

Thank you for you interest in the Cheshire Lions Club!

The Cheshire Lions Club has been serving the Cheshire community and the world since 1949. In Cheshire there are permanent items that the Club has contributed to the town such as the town electronic events board, flag poles, park benches, the ice-skating rink, the park safari, the dog park, and others.

The bigger contribution is the on-going town activities such as:

  • Annual Town Easter Egg Hunt done with the Parks Department since 1952
  • Annual Dance for the Blind since 1957
  • Annual Mother's Day plant sale
  • Annual Halloween Trunk or Treats event in Park
  • School scholarships
  • Performing annual eye screenings for 1600 children in Cheshire schools
  • On-going monthly contributions to the food bank
  • Thanksgiving Baskets for the needy
  • Sponsoring Boy Scout Troop, youth baseball and soccer
  • Donating books to the library
  • Annual Peace Poster contest
  • Sponsoring concerts in Bartlem Park
  • Helping citizens with visual and hearing preservation
  • Meeting other needs of the Cheshire people and community as they arise.

The Cheshire Lions Clubs raises funds to support their charitable efforts through the Cheshire Half Marathon/5K, Flower sales, Wine tasting, paper shredding events, and other activities.

Cheshire Lions are part of Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest service organization.  Lions Clubs International has 1.4 million members in 219 countries, more than in the United Nations which Lions was a founding member as a non-political group and still holds a seat. The Cheshire Lions support Lions’ efforts in Connecticut and worldwide.  The stated causes supported by Lions international are Vision, Hunger, Childhood cancer, the Environment, Diabetes, youth, humanitarian aid and Disaster relief.

The Cheshire Lions Club supports these causes through its local projects along with financial support to Lions International and State foundations.

The other aspect of the Cheshire Lions Club is the social interaction with fellow members and the Cheshire community. It is very fulfilling to work with like minded members serving those in need.
