Celebrating 75 years serving Chatham!

President’s message: Lion Seppo Kuokkanen

Forging into our 75th Anniversary Year

Another Lions year is winding up with the Chatham Lions Club, yet we ponder our past. As we are beyond the midpoint of our Anniversary Year.  The Club was chartered March 24, 1949.

It has been a very busy year to date. For example, The Chatham Sports Hall of Fame event; hosting a Youth visiting from Italy, showing Guido life in Chatham Kent; hosting fubdraising BBQs at Sobeys; volunteering Bingos to be recipients of funds raised at Bingos; Exceptional Riders program; sponsor eyeglasses to those in need; gave a donation to a local fire victim; as well as many other generous donations within the community.  Other events Lions were seen at was our local Rememberance Day Ceremony, hosting our District meeting in Chatham; visits by Andy and others to help at Camp Huronda; visiting other Lions Clubs to show our support.  We held our First Annual Tree Hugging Contest and gathered for various fun social activities supported by our Social Committee. WHEW!!

I look forward to meeting others at our Anniversary on May 5th and celebrate the years of giving to the Community.  Then it will soon be time to pass on the Gavel to Lion Cynthia.

Yours in Service

Lion President Seppo
