Eye Operation Camp : Our club started the Free Eye Operation Camps to treat the curable blindness due to cataract. First camp was organised in October, 1984 at Dera Bassi with Dr A.D. Grover, Eye Surgeon. After that one or two camps were held every year in the month of October/November and February/March at Satsang Bhawan, Sector 26, Chandigarh. Since last twelve years we have adopted the new techniques of treatment by using IOL's. The expert team of doctors from the Department of Ophthalmology, GMCH, Sector 32 are conducting the camps for the last nine years. We have also started organizing camps in the rural areas outside Chandigarh. More than 8600 patients have been
treated in 65 camps till June 2020.


Artificial Limb Camp : We are regularly organizing Artificial Limb Camp for the physically challenged persons. We arrange to provide artificial limbs to the needy person free of cost. We had
organized 11 camps since June 2020. We have supported more than 450 patients till day.


Lions Eye Donation Programme : In 2006, we started the campaign to create awareness on importance and the need of Eye Donation. We are organizing walks / seminars in schools, colleges and in the meetings of other societies , on the regular basis. During the last year 262 eyes have been donated which brought light in the life of 524 blinds. In addition to this, five complete body donation done during last year.


Blood Donation Camps : We are regularly organizing Blood
Donation Camps in colleges and other institutes to motivate the youth. We also organise seminar in schools to create awareness about the need of blood donation among the children. During the last year 260 units of blood collected in Blood Donation Camps.
 

Diabities Detection & Awareness Camp : More than 3000 OPDs were done in the camp oraganised during last four year.

Hunger Project: We are organising langars, distributing food items regularly & also untensils given to
Roti Bank during the year.

LEGACYPROJECTS

Cremation Ground was developed at Jagatpura Village, Distt. Mohali as Permanent Legacy Project by our club for convenience of the local people.


Old Age Home : The Chandigarh Administration handed over the management of Old Age Home, Sector 15 to us in 1999 in a much depleted state. We implemented certain systems of management to
improve the working of the home. In 2008, we returned it back to the Chandigarh Administration.


PGI Sarai : In 1992, we built the Sarai (a shelter for patients and attendants) in PGI complex with a cost of Rs 25 lacs and handed over to PGI authorities.


Udaan : We started Lions Bal Vidya Mandir, a school in Kumhar Colony, Sector 26 in 1988. After the rehabilitation of the colony, we shifted to Nehru Colony, Sector 53. The aim of the school was to motivate the slum children and to create their interest in education. After the shifting of the Nehru Colony we started our new project Udaan in 2014 to impart education to the needy and meritorious students and is giving monetary assistance to needy students.
