Each year the Carlisle Lions Club in Cooperation with Carlisle Events raise donations to fund one of the Carlisle Lions Club programs.  Last year we raised over $7,000 dollars for Disaster Relief

This year (2024) we are raising donations for the Carlisle Lions Vision Program.  Lions have a long history of serving the blind and visually impaired, and remain committed to continuing this mission into our next century of service.

2024 Donations will benefit in the following ways:

  • Free Vision Screening:  Lions conduct free vision screening with our vision screening camera.  This camera in a matter of seconds gives a nonclinical vision screening that shows if the vision has any anomalies.  If an anomaly is found, then a follow-up appointment is recommended.
    • Each year Lions conduct vision screening of kindergarten kids registering for school for the upcoming school year.
    • Vision Screening is conducted in the schools for all students whos parents approve the free screening.
    • Throughout the area Lions conduct Vision Screening at local events.
  • Vision Exams:  Each year the Carlisle Lions Club gets requests from individuals needing eye exams.  These individuals because of a multitude of reasons cannot afford the exam, so the Carlisle Lions Club in cooperation with several local Optometrist pay for the exams.
  • Eyeglasses Purchase Program:  The Carlisle Lions Club receives request annually to purchase eyeglasses for those who need glasses but for one reason or another cannot afford to purchase them.  These individuals range from young children having issues seeing the presentation in their classes to elderly who are on fixed income and need the glasses to just get around each day.  Local Optometrist fit and provide the eyeglasses that are paid for by the Carlisle Lions Club.
  • Vision Screening Camera:  The vision screening cameras we are currently using are approximately 7 years old and are owned by our Lions District.  Carlisle Lions Club in cooperation with other local Lions clubs are looking at purchasing an additional camera to do eye screening.  These cameras with equipment (printer, cords, etc..) are more then ten-thousand dollars.
  • Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) Vision Program:  If enough money is raised and we surpass our goals, Local Lions Clubs will donate money to Lions Clubs International Foundation Vision Program.  Lions Club International Vison Program has helped millions around the world.

We also collect used Eyeglasses with drop locations throughout the Carlisle Area.
