Straddling Highway 24 halfway between Colorado Springs and Limon is the "Highest Non-Mountain Town in the United States," Calhan, Colorado.  Depending on your map, you may need a magnifying glass to find us.   We have no stoplights, no parking meters and a traffic jam is two pickups pulled up door-to-door passing the time of day.  Out here when you wave at another driver, you use your whole hand, not just one finger.

Calhan is a close-knit community and the Lions are an important part of civic life.  We sponsor a community Easter Egg Hunt and host the community Christmas party. We also take an active part in the community Halloween party.  We adopted Highway 24 for one mile on either side of town and in the spring and fall we have a Fun Run In the Sun which usually is a tiptoe through the raindrops and sailing contest as the wind catches the big orange bags.  Some days you can pick up the same trash several times thanks to the wind. We provide school supplies and clothing to children in August each year. We also support the Colorado Lions Camp through Bingo and sponsoring campers.

The Calhan Lions Club was formed on September 27, 1939.  Our club has produced many strong leaders.   Bob Selle was MD6 Council Chair for 2012-2013.  Four 6-SE District Governors have called Calhan their home club, Sharon Agun--2019-2020--Bob Selle--2011-2012, Monty Whitney--2007-2008 and John "Nap" Pieper--1985-1986.

We meet the first Tuesday of each month at Swink Hall on the El Paso County Fair Grounds.

Please contact our Membership Chair, Sharon Agun at lionniles@q.com, or President, Ed Bridges at 719-347-2665 if you are interested in checking us out.
