Today Lions Calcutta Greater Vidya Mandir, an English medium institution affiliated to the council is a landmark in the area of Chowhati. The three storey majestic structure of the building is a promise kept by Lion members and is seen as a symbol of growth and development.

Education would be the key of opening doors in the lives of the economically backward and salvaging society from mire of deprivation and ignorance; was the belief of members of Lions Calcutta Greater . For sustained developement of people of Chowhati, the members of Lions Calcutta Greater decided that children must be given education that pulls them out of the grinding poverty that their parents have inherited through generations and thus the school took shape in year 2002. Today in 2010, in a short period of eight years, the school has grown and the members can be rest assured that their efforts are bearing fruits. Today not only has school achieved a NOC from the state education board and affiliation from the Delhi council, it is gaining popularity in the area of most promising educational set up.

On 1st of March'09 Shri Partho De, Minister of Education for West Bengal graced a function in the school inaugurating the secondary section and on the occasion applauded the initiative of the Lion members whole heartedly. Now 650 students are enrolled here, coming not only from the adjoining areas but also from Sonarpur, Baruipur and Garia and enjoying the quality education imparted from qualified and trained teachers at par with any established school in the city. The students are exposed to variety co-curricular activities to enable them gain confidence.

The LSGVM School is no longer a dream but a promising reality that stands tall. The steps taken now would surely take it further from strength to strength.
