Burlington, CT Lions impact our community every day because we strive to serve the community however possible.
Burlington, CT Lions Club has a diverse history. Founded in 1968, we are best known for fighting blindness, but we also volunteer for many different kinds of community projects - including caring for the environment, feeding the hungry and aiding seniors and the disabled. Lions Club International was founded in 1917.
Burlington, CT Lions protect sight. Burlington, CT Lions work toward their mission of providing vision for all. We take pride in our our commitment to sight conservation through countless local efforts and through our international SightFirst Program, which works to eradicate blindness. We do pediatric eye screening in daycare centers and schools, collect used eyeglasses and contribute funding for research into treatment and cures for diseases of the eyes, among other things. By conducting vision screenings, equipping hospitals and clinics, distributing medicine and raising awareness of eye disease, Lions Club International works across the globe to protect sight, too.
Burlington, CT Lions serve youth. We operate the Lions Club Basketball programs in regular season and we team with Burlington, CT Parks & Recreation to co-host a summer basketball program. We also have give out scholarships for community-minded high school graduates seeking higher education of any form.
Burlington, CT Lions help those in need. We help our community by providing for immediate needs such as food, water, clothing books, and medical supplies when made aware of the need, and we regularly support Burlington, CT's Social Services. We lead by example in the community, and more.
Burlington, CT Lions are active. Our motto is "We Serve." We are proudly part of a larger global service network, doing whatever is necessary to help our town and beyond
