During the 64+ years that the Brussels Lions Club has been in existence we have had many club projects. Some are still active, and some have been retired. Regardless of the project, it was probably made possible due to the funds we raise at our annual Belgian Days Festival.
Some of these local projects are listed below:
- $2,000 Scholarships to 3 or 4 graduates of Southern Door High School each year
- Kids T-ball nights during the summer
- Vision Screening with other Door County Lions Clubs
- Donating to the Craft area supplies at Wisconsin Lions Camp
- Free loan out of medical equipment for those who need it
- Painting a 35' x 53' map of the USA and a 20' x 30' world map on the playground at Southern Door Elementary School
- A Halloween party for the local kids that has included a "treat path" and drive-in movies
- Christmas lights and banners throughout town
- "Fill the Float" food drive for a local food pantry
- Numerous projects involving our Town Park
- Annual maintenance
- Walking trail
- 2nd shelter building
- re-roofing of pavilion in 2020
- Playground equipment
- Community gardens
- New basketball backboards
- A Pickleball court
- Addition of a bandstand in 2023
