Our service projects support each of the Lions International global causes of diabetes, hunger, vision, environment and childhood cancer and champion collective well-being.   We embrace the rich tapestry of cultures and backgrounds that make Sunset Park unique, ensuring our service reflects the needs of all residents.

Our signature projects include:

• Community Health & Resource Fair Screening- provides community members with free screenings, demonstrations, information, resources and access to experts so that they can assess their current health status and learn how to enhance their overall health including vision and diabetes screenings, free eyeglasses and no-cost breast cancer screenings through our partnership with the American Italian Cancer Foundation.
• Backpack Giveaway- provides backpacks loaded with school supplies to the community’s school children.
• Thanksgiving Food & Turkey Drive- provides turkeys, fresh vegetables and canned goods to members of our community.
• Gift of Giving- a collaborative toy drive with Gift of Giving LLC, High School of Telecommunication Arts & Technology, Dyker Beach Golf Club, Casper’s Cuts and local businesses focused on collecting and delivering gifts to children living in temporary housing in our local schools.
• Fiesta de los Tres Reyes Magos- Three Kings Day celebration that shares the journey of the Magi, celebrates cultural traditions, and features cultural food, Rosca de Reyes, toys for all children, parrandas, music, dancing and a visit with the Tres Reyes.
• Multicultural Lunar New Year Celebration- a collaborative with Team Up NY celebrating of the arrival of spring and the beginning of a new year on the lunar calendar.
• Our Young Leaders in Service Awards- recognizes & provides monetary scholarships to students in our local schools who have demonstrated leadership and service to their school and community. We also recognize the service of our educators through the Educator of the Year Award.
• Summer Outing-provides family friendly activities during the summer.
