Due to rainy weather, the broom sale at the downtown HalloweenFest had to be cancelled - wet brooms and cardboard containers are not good things...

At the recent White Cane donation drive we collected $315.  Thanks to the members who were able to work after a rain postponement.

Welcome new member Arthur Du Bois!  He was sponsored by Lion Rick and brings our membership total up to 21!  He was a previous Lions member in Colorado and Conneticut.

Thanks to the workers at the 2019 July 4th Street Festival Broom Sale.  We sold $627 worth of brooms - nearly a record!  We'll now have to order more brooms to have enough for the HalloweenFest Street Festival...

17 people had vision screenings (6 referred for medical follow-up) and 13 had hearing screenings at the recent June 2019 visit of the Mobile Screening Unit.  Over 1200 pair of used eyeglasses were turned over at this event also.

A $5000 grant was received from Lake Toxaway Charities in June to help support our vision projects. This will allow our club to continue to provide glasses for the needy of Transylvania County, through requests from over 25 aid organizations in WNC.

Thanks to Lions Harvey and Ed who sold and delivered $1355 worth of brooms to summer camps this spring.

Welcome new member Donna Dukes, who was inducted at the May 16 meeting.  Lion Ed is her sponsor.  This brings membership up to 20 members!

Welcome new member Ken Olson, who joined at the January 3 meeting.  Lion Ed is his sponsor.

A $1000 grant was received from St. Philips Episcopal Church in January to help support our vision projects.

At the 2018 downtown Brevard Halloween Fest broom sale, we sold $331 worth of brooms.  Not bad, considering we had a poor location to sell from. Thanks to the workers.

At a September 2018 White Cane drive we received $377 in donations in 4 hours at Brevard Hardware and Food Lion.  Thanks to all the workers for a record collection!

We collected over $600 in donations during our Fall Brighter Visions campaign.  This will be sent to help support Camp Dogwood and the other state-wide vision projects.  Excellent work and surely a new record for our club!

We have initiated the transfer of new member Scott Kuba from his old club in Illinois.  Welcome Scott!!  We look forward to taking advantage of your years as a Lion.

$200 was raised at the recent Wine Tasting at Brevard Wines.  Thanks to Lion Dick for coordinating this event.

Lion President Rick Laws presented a $1000 scholarship to Brevard High Senior Madison Allen. Madison is visually impaired after a rare eye cancer as a baby but has excelled scholastically and has been accepted to attend the University of Tennesse in the field of nuclear engineering.  An accomplished saxophonist, Madison will minor in music.

A $1500 donation was approved to refurbish a room at Camp Dogwood.  There will be a plaque honoring 58-year member Lion Jack Hudson.

We made over $4000 selling 3,250 pairs of eclipse glasses at 20 locations in the county.  This will be used to help fund our club-level vision projects in Transylvania county.

Thanks to Lion Joe Workman for his work posting club meeting notices in the local newspaper.  Very well-written and informative.  He has also created a Facebook page for the Brevard Lions Club at
