Bowness Lions Club Awards and Induction Dinner

Bowness Lions Club held its first Awards and Induction Dinner since June 24,  2019 on June 29, 2022. The Awards and Induction  Dinner was postponed due to Covid restrictions.  New members joining the Club during this period of time had to wait for the Induction ceremonies until such time when Covid restrictions were lifted.  Induction ceremonies were conducted by now 1st Vice District Governor Kevin Gibbons.

Members new to Bowness Lions Club but not to Lionism were acknowledged.

New members are Christine Ford (Trumpeter Lions Club, Grande Prairie), Daryl Reinke (Balf and District Lions Club) and Ken Rose (Bearspaw Lions Club).

 

Awards

  • !00% attendance pins for years 2019 – 2020, 2020 – 2021 and 2021 – 2022 were presented.
  • President’s Appreciation Awards.  Past President Lion Dennis Makowichuk presented  Lion April Vyas the award in recognition of for her excellent work as Club Publicity Director, and the award to Lion Luciana Makowichuk (absent) was in recognition for her work in setting up the Zoom meetings.
  • President Lion Glen MacKinnon  presented his Appreciation Awards to Lions Elaine and Harold Graham in recognition of their dedication and untiring work in the Club.
  • Special Presentation.  A Community Service Award was presented to Loraine Barton (non-Lion) for her work in organizing seniors to attend the annual Bowness Lions Club Stampede Pancake Breakfast during the past 30 years. Presentation was made by Elaine and Harold Graham, members of the Stampede  Pancake Breakfast Committee.
  • Club Appreciation Award.  A Distinguished Service Award was presented to  Lion Harold Graham in recognition of is outstanding exemplary service to community and Bowness Lions Club.  Presentation was made by Club Secretary Ed Tysowski.

 

 

  • Fellowship Awards.  VDG Kevin Gibbons presented the Dr. Patti Hill Fellowship to Lion April Vyas in recognition of her dedicated service as Club Publicity Director.

The Judge Brian Stevenson Fellowship will be presented to Lion Kathleen Pearen (absent) at a later date. Kathleenisa dedicated member of the Stampede Pancake Breakfast Committee in charge of the project’s finances.

  • As a note of interest, the dinner was catered by Lion Otto Silzer and his group from the  Lions Club of Calgary.
  • In closing Past President’s pins were presented to Dennis Makowichuk and Glen MacKinnon.  President Glen Mackinnon presented in-coming President Harold Graham his President’s pin and the Gavel.
