New Member Requirements
Police Record Check
All new members must complete a valid police record check before their membership is fully approved.
This requirement protects the safety, trust, and integrity of the club and the community.
Members may be asked to renew their police check periodically based on club policy or volunteer activity needs.
Orientation
New members participate in an orientation session to learn about the club’s mission, values, service commitments, and expectations.
Members confirm their understanding of the Code of Conduct and the principles of Lions International.
Participation
New members are encouraged to attend meetings regularly and take part in service projects.
Active involvement strengthens the club and supports community service goals.
Membership Dues
Members pay annual dues as set by the club.
These funds support administrative costs, community programs, and Lions International initiatives
Botwood Lions Club – Code of Conduct
1. Representation Members act in a way that reflects positively on the Botwood Lions Club and Lions International. Integrity, courtesy, and respect guide all interactions. 2. Respect for Members Treat all members with dignity, regardless of background or experience. Resolve disagreements constructively and maintain a supportive environment. 3. Community Service Standards Participate in service projects with reliability and enthusiasm. Follow safety guidelines and support fellow volunteers. Maintain professionalism when interacting with the public. 4. Meetings and Participation Attend meetings regularly and notify leadership if unable to attend. Contribute respectfully during discussions and allow others to speak. Follow established procedures and decisions made by the club. 5. Ethical Conduct Avoid behavior that could harm the club’s reputation. Do not use membership for personal gain or political promotion. Handle club funds, property, and resources responsibly. 6. Inclusivity and Harassment-Free Environment The club is a welcoming space for all. Harassment, discrimination, or bullying of any kind is not tolerated. 7. Confidentiality Respect the privacy of members and the confidentiality of club matters when required. 8. Alcohol, Substances, and Safety Use good judgment at club events where alcohol may be present. Never engage in unsafe or illegal behavior during club activities. 9. Social Media and Public Communication Be mindful when posting about the club online. Only designated members speak publicly on behalf of the club. 10. Accountability Members who violate the Code of Conduct may be asked to meet with club leadership. Serious or repeated violations may result in disciplinary action, including suspension of membership.
