Welcome to the Bombay Lions Website!

Hello to our Lions Club members and their families, to Lions everywhere, and to all readers from our communities

Lions have been active in Bombay and its surrounding districts for 27 years. We now welcome back our own “Bombay Roar” after a period in hibernation. It is our voice to Club members, and to Lions throughout New Zealand and elsewhere. It also serves as a voice to our local district, highlighting some of our varied service activities and future plans.

In living the Lions’ motto, ‘We Serve’, our first priority is our immediate communities. Bombay Lions seek to provide active support to local organisations, families and individuals. A few examples of recent activities are provided in this website.

Other Lions’ support in 2012 has included ‘Wheels & Heels’ at Pokeno School, the Springbush equestrian event at Hunua, and grants made towards ambitious undertakings of resourceful local youngsters. The Bombay Pioneer Settlers Fun Run organised by the Lions on 17 March is featured on the next page. That event demonstrated how well our community will come together in a common cause. The day featured healthy recreation for the young and the not-so-young, raising of funds for worthy community purposes, and a wonderful social occasion.

A limited Club membership in a small community like Bombay restricts our ability to cater fully for the many things that we could otherwise achieve in our area. Our Club recognises that a person’s interest in participating in community service activities is sometimes tempered by concern about the personal commitment that this might entail. So we offer a relaxed, team-spirited environment, and we ask no more of any person than what they are able to give. I encourage anyone with an interest in the workings of the Bombay Lions Club to contact one of our members, and come along and see for yourself the personal satisfaction and enjoyment gained from being part of Lions.
