Please look at our calendar for our next Community Blood Drive will be at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, 333 W Lotte St, Blue Grass, IA from 2 to 7 PM.
Most of our funds raised go to support the various entities of the Iowa Lions Foundation. Those include the Iowa Lions Eye Bank, the only eye bank in the state of Iowa whose main purpose is to coordinate the recovery of eye tissue throughout the state; the Iowa Lions Hearing Aid Bank which recycles the used hearing aids; Leader dogs for the Blind (Puppy Program) supporting 60 to 70 puppies at a time being trained by inmates in 3 Iowa Correctiional Facilities for one year; Iowa KidSight vision screening for preschool aged children over 6 months of age; Iowa Department for the Blind; Iowa Lions Cochlear Implant Center helping persons hear through the surgical implant of the cochlear hearing aid; and the Iowa Department for the Deaf setting up training sites for teaching the deaf to communicate.
We contribute to Camp Courageous of Iowa. We help local residents with obtaining hearing aids and eye glasses if they are unable to afford them.
Newcomers to Blue Grass can pick up Welcome Packets at city hall. Please ask for them. There is information about the community and activities going on.
We collect used eyeglasses and hearing aids. They can be dropped off at the Blue Grass Savings Bank.
