Lions Clubs across the globe were commisioned by Helen Keller in 1925 to be "knights of the blind in a crusade against darkness."   Today, more than 1 million members worldwide continue those efforts to aid the blind and visually imparied with screenings, eyeglasses for low income families and raising millions of dollars for Sight First a Lions initiative dedicated to targeting the major cause of blindness: cataract, trachoma, childhood blindness, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma.
