Fellow Lion Jimmy Joe (JJ) Mosby, from the Bel-Ray Sunrise Lions, Receives City of Belton Civic Leadership Award

Jimmy Joe (JJ) Mosby is a life long resident of Belton and a graduate of Belton High School.  JJ learned at an early age the importance of volunteer work as his parents were avid volunteers in the Belton Community.  After high school JJ attended Finley Engineering College then followed in his father's footsteps and fulfilled a lifelong dream joining the Marine Corps.  After returning from his tour of duty with the Marines, JJ began serving on the Board of Directors with the Belton Athletic Association, an organization his father helped create in 1956 that provides summer baseball and softball to the youth of the community.  JJ continues to serve as Chairman of the Board.  In addition to coaching many teams over the years JJ would take his vacations during the summer months to provide free baseball clinics for the local youth.  JJ has been a member of the Belton American Legion Post #488 for 37 years and served as Commander for a number of years in the 70's and 80's.  He served on the committee to design and construct the war memorial in Peace Park.  JJ is a member of the Belton Community Projects, which organizes numerous community events such as Community Days, the Mayor's Christmas Tree Lighting, Veterans Day Parade and Barbeque Contests.  JJ served as president in the 70's and 80's and again in the 2000's.  JJ helped organize the first Mayor's Christmas Tree Lighting ceremonies in the 70's and continues to serve as Chairman of that committee.  JJ served as a member of the Belton Park Board for 16 years before resigning to take a position with the Belton Police Department where he is currently the jail supervisor.  JJ has served with numerous other organizations including the Belton Emergency Management and the Lions Club.

What Is Pay It Forward?
FAQ's about it  (WDAF FOX 4 News)
FOX 4 is Working for You with an uplifting series of stories. It's called "Pay It Forward," and we're giving you the chance to help change someone's life.

Each week, FOX 4's Kathy Quinn shows us what happens when someone you don't expect steps up at just the right time to make someone else's life a little easier.

Now, we need your help. Maybe it's someone you know, or it could be a stranger.

Here's how it works:

One time each week, FOX 4's Kathy Quinn will venture out in Kansas City to surprise a viewer with $300. That viewer will have just 60 minutes to give the money away to someone who needs a boost in life. But, you can't give it to a family member. And, our cameras must be able to come along.

You'll be amazed at the way you'll feel when you help us "Pay It Forward." And, we all get to share in the excitement as FOX 4 shows you these moving stories. So, pay it forward and email us below to tell us who you think deserves the money. Then wait to see who FOX 4 surprises first!
