The Baraboo Lions Club can trace its beginings to an organizational meeting on August 3, 1942 at the Trinity Guild Hall in Baraboo. The charter roster included 62 members.
Officers were: President, H. H. Prange; Vice Presidents John Brazzell, Dr. Carl B. Pope, and Duane Peck; Secretary-Treasurer, Arthur Gilbert; Tail Twister, James H. Hill Jr., Lion Tamer Floyd Carpenter; and Directors, Wilbur Deppe, Harlan H. Hill, John H. McGann, and H. W. Hawkins.
The first regular meeting was held at the Devi-Bara Resort.
