Zumba & Strides, a Diabetes and Oral Health Awareness

The Baguio Everlasting Lions Club (BELC), Philippine Medical Women’s Association Baguio-Benguet Chapter (PMWA BBC) and the PDA-Baguio City Chapter (PDA-BCC), in cooperation with the City of Baguio, are committed to help create awareness in diabetes and oral health through Zumba® & Strides – a fitness activity for Diabetes and Oral Health Awareness, to be held on April 18, 2015, Saturday, from 6 AM to 10 AM, at the Melvin Jones grandstand and grounds, Baguio Burnham Park. 

Other activities planned during this event include: free Diabetes Screening, free bone densitometry, cholesterol screening, etc.; Diabetes Awareness Lecture for Laymen, and Oral Health Education.  Proceeds will be used to fund our various community outreach projects in our City.  Our Zumba® & Strides activity is part of this year’s SUMVAC activities of Baguio City.

DIABETES AWARENESS CAMPAIGN, DIABETES & VISION SCREENING, MEDICAL & OPTICAL MISSION

 After a month of preparation and coordination, BELC conducted the outreach community service to Amgaleyguey, Buguias, Benguet (3 hours travel from Baguio City) on October 11, 2014.
1) "Sharing the Vision" Global Service Action Campaign project.
- Vision Screening 
- Glaucoma/Cataract
- Diabetes Screening
- Sight for Kids (vision screening/refraction)
2) Medical Services 
- Medical check up
- Vitamin A for Children 1-5 years old
- Deworming of children (no age limits)
- Distribution of blankets to senior citizen and children.
3) Dental Services 
- Dental kits distribution
- Dental Check up and Tooth Extraction
