Good Friday Appeal

Attention Bacchus Marsh community !

Help The Lions Club raise funds for the Children’s Hospital 2024 Good Friday Appeal.

We're thrilled to announce that our Lions Club is making significant strides with our Children's Hospital Appeal (RCH). Thanks to the hard work of our coordinator, David Atterbury, and the generosity of our community, we've already raised an impressive $10,600.00 for the RCH bank account. But we're not stopping there! In the upcoming weeks, our Lions Club collectors will be stationed at various locations throughout town, with additional collectors at key highway points on Good Friday, March 29th.

Following its successful introduction, we're continuing to offer electronic donations for the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal 2024! You can scan the QR code shown on this post with your phone to make a secure donation. This facility is operated by the Children's Hospital, and all donations made this way will be attributed to the Bacchus Marsh total. Additionally, local businesses can now donate and obtain a tax deduction - contact us via email (bacchus.marsh@lions201v1-4.org.au) or talk to a local Lions member for more information. Let's continue to support this important cause and make a difference in the lives of children and families in need.

Skin Cancer Check Van Update

I would like to pass on a big thank you to everyone who contributed to a very successful weekend of Skin Cancer Checking.

Over the two days the three Dermoscopists checked 126
people and referred 50 people to their GP for further testing.
This was a remarkable effort as we filled every one of the 102 available appointments more than a week before the event. Somehow they squeezed in 24 extra “walk ins”.

Around $374 in donations for the Skin Cancer Van was collected from the “patients” and we sold more than 20 Christmas Cakes

An especially big thank you to the catering team lead by Jo Murfitt. The workers (and numerous supervisors) were treated to delicious treats at morning and afternoon tea and lovely fresh
sandwiches and rolls for lunch.

Thanks also to those who volunteered their time for admin support each day and to all who turned up at the start and end of each day for set up and pack up.

I would also like to acknowledge the local businesses which made a small but welcome contribution:

- Bacchus Marsh Caravan Park gave us a discount on the accomodation which was, according to the visitors, very comfortable and clean.
- Little Lucky Cafe for proving breakfasts for the visitors at a discount.
- Mick at Donut King who, in a moment of madness, actually donated a dozen donuts each day.
- David at the Strawberry farm who donated 5 1kg punnets of strawberries which we gave to the visitors as a thank you for donating their time.
