Inter-Club Visit - Monday 22 August 2011

On Monday night eight members of Dumaresq Lions Club travelled to Walcha to join with them for their meeting and guest speaker. Duval Lions Club member, Steve Widders, addressed those present about his recent Blind Courage walk on The Kokoda Track.

During the proceedings, Dumaresq Lions could hear the beseeching cries of the Walcha Gong. Their gong was not being treated well and kept calling out for someone to free it from the tyranny of the Walcha Lion Tamer.

Today, we are pleased to announce that the Walcha Gong is now on a holiday, and has already gone sightseeing.

The Walcha Gong

The Gong has also started it life of community service - helping out at Armidale Blood Bank - making sure that donors can listen to highlights of the Gong's holidays! Today the stories were all about Wollomombi Falls - lots of water, mist, noise and just a great place to hang out.

A close shave or two!

The Walcha Gong has now undertaken service to the community - it has helped raise much needed funds for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service in Armidale Mall on Sunday morning. Lots of goods and raffle tickets were sold by the Gong - raising over $800 for this much needed emergency rescue service that operates in the New England North West region. Well done to the Walcha Gong!
