Community Member Awards

Citizen of the Year Award

This Award recognizes a person living and/or working in Alfred who is a leader on the bases of their significant contributions to the community. The recipient will be recognized and presented with a plaque at a fall dinner meeting. (Not necessarily awarded every year)

Alfred-Almond C.S. Scholarships

Each year $750 college scholarships are awarded to the two June graduating seniors with the highest academic averages at Alfred-Almond Central School who are attending Alfred State College and Alfred University. A recipient need not be a resident of the Alfred-Almond School District. The scholarships are typically awarded at the first fall dinner meeting.

Club Member Awards

Melvin Jones Fellowship

The Melvin Jones Fellowship award, created in 1973, is named in honor of the founder of Lions Clubs International. The Fellowship was established as LCIF’s highest form of recognition to acknowledge an individual’s dedication to humanitarian service. (Not necessarily awarded every year)

Rober Uplinger Award

The Robert Uplinger award honors outstanding Lions, non-lions or organizations that perform exemplary service to a Club, District or community. The recipients possess the highest examples of lionistic character, ideals, purpose and service.

Lion of the Year Award

The Lion of the Year Award will be named by the current club president with consideration of current year contributions and activities of club members in selecting a recipient. An award may not be awarded every year and a previous recipient shall not be eligible to repeat for a period of five years.
