Adur East Lions' Wenceslas Project is partly supported by the Sussex Community Foundation.
Our Wenceslas Project is receiving donations from those persons who wish to donate their Winter Fuel Payments to help local people who are struggling to pay for heating their homes and cooking their food. Every payment is made directly to the energy companies, ensuring that ALL monies received are spent on gas and/or electricity. Clients may be referred to us by the Citizens Advice Bureau and AgeUK, among others. Please go to www.lionsgiving.co.uk/Appeal/adureastwenceslas or see attached flyer for further details.
Additionally, or instead of, why not consider donating to our Adur East Food Bank Fund? Our members are buying groceries from a low-price national supermarket to supply local Food Banks in Shoreham, Southwick and Fishersgate. The food Banks are helping those people who cannot afford to buy the absolute essentials that are needed to eat, or have health and/or disability issues. Please help those struggling to buy food by donating to our fund - https://www.lionsgiving.co.uk/Appeal/adureastfoodbank
Prior to Covid, Adur East Lions Club's main fund raising projects were the Annual Donkey Derby and Classic Vehicle Rally and a car boot sale on Adur Recreation Ground. These events are currently under review.
We are very busy at Christmas with street collections, with Father Christmas and his sleigh, and organising Santa's Grotto at a local venue.
We find 'nests' for giant Easter Eggs in local businesses who raffle them in aid of local people and run stalls at local events
In addition to the donations made to many charities, we provide regular social events for local older people who live on their own.
"Message in a Bottle" bottles and "Message in a Wallet" forms are supplied to doctors' surgeries, chemists and seniors' clubs in the Adur area.
Used spectacles and hearing aids are also collected and sent to developing countries via Chichester Lions.
