ZEBULON LIONS CLUB

The Zebulon Lions Club is very appreciative of the support we receive from the local community for our projects.  We can look back with pride on what our Club has accomplished.  However, we recognize there is much that remains to be done to serve our local and the worldwide community, particularly those who are visually or hearing impaired, but also our young people, our senior citizens, and many others.  We strive to keep the spirit of Lionism alive and look forward to what can be accomplished by working together.

Wouldn’t you like to help?

Over 430 Lions Clubs in North Carolina support and assists a large number of humanitarian activities.

WHITE CANE

Since our beginning, Lions have dedicated much of our efforts to assisting the vision impaired.  The NC Lions Foundation provides a multitude of programs and services for the vision impaired.  These include white canes, radios, grants to universities to support research to end blindness, scholarships for children of vision impaired parents, etc.

VIP FISHING TOURNAMENT

The North Carolina Lions annually provide a fishing tournament for Visually Impaired Persons (VIPs).  This event is held at North Carolina’s Outer Banks every October and draws about 500 visually impaired persons each year.  Each of these VIPs have the same goal – “to do something that makes them feel normal.”

CAMP DOGWOOD

NC Lions support 1000 vision impaired persons (VIPs) each summer at Camp Dogwood, located at Lake Norman, near Charlotte.  Lions Clubs pay $225 to sponsor a VIP and the NC Lions Foundation covers the remaining $1000+ that comprises the total cost for each VIP who enjoys a week of fun activities in comfort.

INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS

Sight First

Lions are striving to eradicate preventable and reversible blindness throughout the world through our International SightFirst program.  Established in 1990, Lions worldwide have raised nearly $200 million in funds dedicated to helping establish long-term solutions in healthcare, training of eye care professionals, treatment and public education.

Peace Poster Contest

Lions Clubs sponsor this international program on an annual basis.  Children age 11-13 can express their feelings about world peace by creating an artistic poster.  Winners are recognized at the club, district, and international levels with a variety of awards and prizes.
