2017 Prairie Days

The Yelm Prairie Days is a continuing celebration of the magnificent prairie stretching from the waters of Puget Sound to the foothills of Mt. Rainier.  The Nisqually Indians inhabited the Prairie for centuries, followed by the Hudson Bay Company, and then the James Longmire family settled in the Yelm Prairie in 1853 because of the rich farm land and abundant wild life.  Through the years the Prairie has been home to more and more families, farms and businesses.

Yelm Prairie Days is a decades-old tradition featuring a community parade, carnival rides, live music, vendor booths, and a variety of food items.  Historically organized by the Yelm Lions Club, Prairie Days is one of the oldest local celebrations combining family-friendly activities and community-oriented entertainment.

The Prairie Days Parade is hosted by the Yelm Chamber of Commerce and will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017.  Line-up for participating floats is at 8 am, with judging at 9 am. Floats will will start moving along the parade route at 9:30 am.

Important: The parade will not be held on Thursday afternoon, as you have been used to in previous years!!!!! The theme this year is "Home on the Prairie".
