The Wauconda Lions Club was chartered in 1941 and has continued a long tradtion of supporting the community. While Lions International focuses on providing vision services, the motto is "We Serve," and the Wauconda Club has always viewed its mission broadly. We helped bring the first street lights to Main Street and were instrumental in getting the Village's first police car. More recently, we sponsored a world record snowball fight and instituted the popular Aloha Wauconda celebration and present a Pirate and Princess Day in August!.
In addition to all the special needs we meet, here are just some of the other projects we support the following on an ongoing basis:
- Wauconda/Island Lake Food Pantry
- Scholarships for High School Students
- Holiday Cheer for Seniors and disabled adults
- Candy Day
- Vision and Hearing Screening
- Diabetes AwarnessAssistance to people in need in the Community
