  WHITE CANE DAYS

Each year in March Towns County Lions Club members along with the Towns County LEO Club members can be found at local businesses and major intersections in Hiawassee and Towns County collecting money for "White Cane Days".  Watch for these dedicated volunteers and give what you can.  Your dollars and your pennies all add up and EVERY cent collected goes to the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation. The Lighthouse provides vision service for people in need throughout the state of Georgia.  In 2024, the dates are March 2nd and in case of rain it will be the 9th.  Please slow or stop long enough to give what you can.  We also accept checks made payable to the Towns County Lions Club.  If you can't give, at least smile and wave to the volunteers.

GIVE-A-CHRISTMAS

One of the favorite activities of our club each year is this event.  Our members help provide a brighter Christmas to some of the children of Towns County.  A select group of elementary aged children are invited to attend a Christmas party where they can visit Santa while surrounded by beautifully decorated Christmas trees.  The children and their families are given the opportunity to have a picture made with Santa.  Each child in attendance is given a stuffed toy of their choosing, a new wrapped toy, cookies, candy, fruit and juice.  The parents of the invited children are also presented with a certificate which will allow them to make clothing selections at local retailers.  The children leave with smiles on their faces.  The families leave with sincere expressions of thanks.  The Towns County Lions Club members, their spouses and LEO Club members that helped make the day possible leave with the joy of making others happy while experiencing the true joy of Christmas - helping others.
