Following are the fundraisers planned for the 2017-18

On March 14th we will be having a fundraiser at the  THEATRE BARN. Tickets to the play will be on sale in February by all Lions. For more information, please contact the chair, Lion Cheryl Boyd at cheryl.boyd@raveis.com

Our  SPRING DOCUMENT SHRED DAY (date forthcoming) will be from from 9-12 in the parking lot behind Starbucks.  Winters Bros. will partner with us once again for this event. The cost is $10.00 for a copy paper size box.  Documents do not have to be in boxes, bags are fine. Staples and paper clips do not have to be removed. This is a great way to prevent identity theft which is such a problem these days.

Watch for the April Date of our SPRING DOCUMENT SHRED DAY!!

The 2018  GOLF TOURNAMENT has been set for June 6th!! It is at the Ridgefield Golf Course.  $175 includes a golf cart, lunch, beverage carts on the course and dinner. Bagpipers will lead you onto the course. At the end of play there will be a helicopter ball drop. Ball closest to the mark wins!! Dinner is a delicious BBQ one. There are also raffle prizes such as helicopter ride, Yankee tickets, gift certificates for local restaurants, and exercise gyms, etc. LION TONI RIORDAN is the chair of this event. She can be reached at toniriordan@bhhsne.com for more information. It's a day of fun for a worthy cause. This is our largest fundraiser of the year.

There will be a FALL DOCUMENT SHRED DAY in October, same place, time and price as our spring one. The date is yet to be determined.

November will be our  WINE AND BEER TASTING event. This has grown over the past four years. It's an evening of fun, eating and tasting. It is at the Lounsbury House with Cheers supplying the tasting beverages. There are door prizes and a great raffles. It's a great time to purchase those beverages for the holiday dinners and gifts. WATCH FOR THE DATE!!

SERVICE PROJECTS

The collection of eyeglasses is an ongoing event. Look for the yellow mailbox at Stop and Shop and smaller boxes at all the eye doctor's offices, Chez Delila's, Town Hall, Founder Hall, Parks and Rec, Fairfield County Bank at Danbury Road. These are collected and sent off to be cleaned read and packed to be used by eye doctors and Lions in third world countries.

We will be doing eye screening for adults and children at the RVNA Health Day on April 21st. We hope to see you there. There is an opthamologist there all day that reads the reports and talks to you if you hve a problem. Remember that we can do pre-school children these days.

A graduating high school student is selected from hundreds of applications for a scholaship by our committee in May. The name is announced at Awards Night in June. In July the winner and parents attend our Dinner meeting and receive the scholarship check.

October finds the Lions hosting an ITALIAN DINNER for the seniors at Ballard Green in the recreation Room. The Gaslight Banjo Band provides entertainment for the evening where the seniors dance with the Lions and enjoy singing. It's a most enjoyable evening for all.

On Friday evening of Fall In Love With Ridgefield weekend, the Lions take part in the HAYRIDE in Ballard Park in conjunction with Parks and Rec and the Boys and Girls Club. It is indeed a fun evening.

December keeps us very busy with service projects. Gifts are bought for children of a poor family who we receive from Social Services. We are given the ages and sex of each child. The purchases are wrapped and delivered to Social Services to deliver.

The first Friday of Decmber we do Postcards For The Troops at the Lounsbury House during Holiday Stroll. These cards are pictures of landmarks in town which are written by those who stop in and then the Lions mail them off to all Ridgefielders that are in the Armed Forces. This is all FREE for the public. The hardest part is getting current names and addresses of those serving their country.

The second Saturday of the month finds us ringing Salvation Army bells at Stop and Shop. Dunkin Donuts on Danbury Road and Steve's Bagels. All money collected stays in town to help those in need.

At our December Holiday Party we bring unwrapped gifts for children that are delivered to children at a poor parish in Bridgeport that have very little.
