 January 14, 2012

The Lake Winnebago Lions had the distinct pleasure to recognize a local Lake Winnebago resident at the Lions District 26-M5 “Mid-Winter Rally” on January 14th at the Hilton Garden Inn, Independence, MO.  This was a time to let our roughly 1,500 District Lions know that this individual has consistently helped our Club serve its community.  This was our way of saying a big thank you to Don Davis.  He's the Regional Sales Manager for Heartland Catfish (they distribute their catfish through out restaurants and grocery stores around the country).  In our community Don is known as the "Catfish King," or at least that's what we call him!  He has supported our club for many years now, donating pounds and pounds of his catfish for our Annual Fish Fry.  He not only donates the catfish, but uses his special breading and cooks the catfish himself for all our Fish Fries.  Our events would not be the success they are without Don!  Our attendance has increased each year, and we nearly doubled our fundraising effort this fall with the strong attendance from the All You Can Eat Fish offering.  Many, many thanks to Don for his continued support of the Lake Winnebago Lions Club and to his wife Kim for lending him to us each year!

Update: Fall 2015 Fish Fry - The Catfish King, aka Don Davis, continues annually (sometimes twice per year) to Donate as well as Fry the Catfish for our Lions Club.
