Lions Computer (Audio) Library & Training Center for Visual Impaired People in Nepal

 

Lions Club of Kathmandu Excellence established Lions Computer (Audio) Library & Training Center for Visual Impaired People in Nepal was established on January 11, 2014 (27th Poush 2070) at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, Nepal. This is a Joint Venture Project of Lions Club of Kathmandu Excellence & National Human Right Protection Forum for Disabled Nepal located at Bhrikutimanap, Kathmandu Nepal. The following Lions Clubs & Lions Leaders under District 325 B2 Nepal supported Computers for the Library & Training Centre:

Lions Computer (Audio) Library & Training Center for Visual Impaired People in Nepal is the first initiation in the context of Nepal. It is obvious that Low vision/ blind students need support to read books. In this project scheme, books ue to record in audio form and provide to the blind students. From which they can learn their academic course by listening audio records. 

Many blind people still do not have Educational access because of unavailability of the Educational Materials, home environment. Generally, parents do not have any expectation for their blind children and do not have hope to be self confidence after higher Education. Similarly, family financial condition is also main barrier of the Blind Education.

Audio Books are of the major Educational Documents for the Blind Students. In this noble cause Lions Club of Kathmandu Excellence initiated to establish Lions Computer (Audio) Library & Training Center for Visual Impaired People in Nepal. Computer Library & Training Center supports Visual Impaired Students in for their academic & job placement. 

Objectives:

  • To support Visual Impaired/Blind Students by recording academic and non academic books in audio form.
  • To establish Computer Library for learning & Training opportunity to the Visual Impaired/Blind Students 
  •  
  • Project Approach:
  • There is project twinning approaches for the interested Clubs and Individuals, I/NGOs.
  • In this project scheme, academic & non academic books are recorded in audio form and distributed to the Blind Students. The books are recorded as per the requirement of the students.
  • Blind students of capital city may use the Computer Library & Training Center and the student from out of valley will be provided audio books in memory cards.
  • Audio books are provided to the Schools where blind students are studying.
