The SouthPark LIons participate in a varity of service and fund raising projects at the local, Zone, District, State, and International levels
Lions Service, Inc a sheltered workshop for the visually impaired, provided job training, and dignified working condition. LSI also operates an eye clinic providing eyecare to those who might otherwise be unable to receive vision services. Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness in the U.S. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, JDRF, is he leading, charitable foundation providing diabetes research funding . The SouthPark Lions join Lions from North and South Carolina, as members of the Lions Strutters walking team, supporting the Charlotte walk to cure diabetes. For over 10 years the Lions Strutters have been among the top 10 fund raising groups, participating in the Charlotte Walk.
North Carolina Lions Incorporated, NCLI, is a not for profit, 501-c3, statewide charitible organization of the NC Lions. NCLF provides a variety of grants and special programs for the visually impaired.
Camp Dogwood is a camp for the visually impaired, providing a special special experience for visualy impaired persons, VIPs, in one week sessions through the summer.
Eyeglass Recycling Locations help the Lions collect unbroken eyeglasses for recycling to those in need in impoverished countires. The SouthPark Lions have send over 100,000 pairs of glasses to Venezuela. We have also sent glasses to Haiti, Brazil, and Africa.
