There are two temples, (関帝廟) Kantei Byou temple - Goddest of business flourishing and(媽祖廟) Maso Byou temple - Goddest of amulet built in Town. The town quickly developed after the port was opened to the World’s Foreign Trade in 1859. Now, more than 20 million tourists visit China Town every year. People enjoy Chinese cuisines and original Chinese merchandises.
Yokohama Mei-ying (梅櫻) Lions Club was organized under the sponsor of Yokohama Lions Club in July 20,1970.
The founder of Yokohama Mei-ying Lions Club, Mr. Hai-Tain Lee (李海天氏) was impressed by the philosophy and principle of Lions Club activities. He has established the first Lions Club by Chinese members in Japan.
Through several services and activities, they have appealed to the Chinese members and also to the Japanese volunteers. By the year of 2004, Japanese members also joined Mei-ying Lions Club and built friendship between two different cultures. And now, we are expanding our activities in given rich international environment.
At last, our Club name, “Mei-ying” (梅櫻) was named after (梅-Plum), a typical tree of China and (櫻-Cherry Blossoms), a symbolic tree of Japan, expressing cultural exchanges between China and Japan.
