Lion President Chandra Kumar

I am fortunate to be our clubs President when Lions International is celebrating its Centennial year. I am proud to be working with a family of Lion's club's world over. Together we are helping needy people. Our club has richly contributed  for  41 years in this respect of serving people. Here is a brief sample of things our club's activities:

  1. We donate money every year to the Greenwich & Bexley    Peoples Hospice.
  2. Donated   equipment for mentally handicapped children within the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
  3. Donated electrical and other equipment like wheel chairs  to old  peoples like a ASRA Old Peoples shelter homes and individual requests.
  4. Bank Braille writers and talking newspapers for blind people.
  5. hold at least four to five Diabetes clinics every year.
  6. Our club started Libra project (sickle cell research) which is now a national project.
  7. Answered a variety of individual  requests for help etc.
  8. At International level we hold at least three to four eye camps in India. Also donate money for Sight Savers
  9. We collected old Computers and after repairing them sent them to Indian schools.
  10. Sent Medicines to Tanzania.
  11. Donated money for Water wells in Africa
  12. Our special project is for Cleft Surgery with Northern Cleft Foundation.
  13. Contributed to help for victims of natural disasters like floods and earthquakes etc.

However, it is not all work. We organic social functions like our Charter Night, barbecues, curry nights etc. We also attend other clubs functions organised by other Lion's clubs in our Zone.

All this has been achieved by ordinary people who are community minded. Why not join us to help needy people.
