West Penn Township Lions

WestPenn Township Lions Club was chartered on April 21, 1948.  The first major project was the electrification of the 12 one-room schoolhouses in the township.  The members followed that by clearing land and building structures to create the West Penn Community Park which they continue to use for summer meetings, chicken BBQ's and Senior Fun Day.  The club sponsored Little Schuylkill Lions Club in 1958 and Mahoning Township Lions Club in 1959.  The club also sponsored the West Penn Lioness Club in 1976.  While those charter members are all deceased, there are two sons and a granddaughter of the original members and many of there relatives still in the club.

The club has been a leader in Lionism.  Currently we have 28 members including a Past International Director & 2 Past District Governors,   The West Penn Lions are proud to have been one of the first model clubs during Campaign Sight II and one of the largest contributors in  Multiple District 14.

The W.P. Lions provide monthly help to feed the Hungry in our township. We are partners with other local Lions Clubs to host the Carbon Country Lioness Lions Fair and  are committed to providing services for youth including vision screening at local schools, day care and  early learning centers and annual H.S. Senior Scholarships.   We work to improving the environment and support the Carbon / Schuylkill Envirothon.  We support  diabetes & conducting hearing programs and raise funds for Pediatric Cancer.    Through the PA Lion Of Foundation & Pa Service Foundation  we  provide Service related Grants & disaster relief around the world.
