Our September 10th meeting will be held at the Waynesboro Country Club beginning at 6:00 pm. Bill Kohler, from Mainstreet Waynesboro, will be our speaker and he will inform us of the many changes and projects that have been taking place in our fair town of Waynesboro.
This will be a jam-packed day as we will kick off our “Who is this Lion” contest. We decided to delay this for a month due to the club’s annual picnic. A willing member is giving us a few “little known” facts about themselves. All members will submit who they believe the featured Lion is and at the end of the Lions Year, the Lion who has identified the most correct answers will receive their first quarter dues for the next Lion year paid by me. We had this icebreaker twelve years ago when I was King Lion and everyone had a fun time. The clues will be read after the opening and voting will close when the meal is served.
Additionally, during this meeting there will be a display of baby pictures of our club members and members will donate $2.00 for the administrative fund when they identify the Lion “cuties.” In the event of a tie, tiebreaker photographs will be identified to determine the sole winner. The winner will receive a $25.00 gift card donated by Café del Sol.
Our August 13th meeting was the club picnic at Renfrew. We had four members from the Waynesboro Area Lioness/Lions Club attend the picnic. An additional guest was Lion Lee’s son, Ezra. The food was plentiful we thank Lion Dan for picking up the AC&T order and all those who contributed desserts. Everyone seemed to have a good time playing the games.
The WALL club has invited us to their picnic at Rotary Park on September 3rd. There is no cost involved in attending—just your time.
During our picnic, the Lion of the Year was awarded to Lion Dan Harper. Congratulations, Lion Dan, for your service to our club and to further our club to the community!
As yet, we don’t have a speaker for the October meeting. PDG Lee is working diligently to secure a speaker. DG Barb Dudek will be our guest speaker in November to celebrate our 96th Charter Night.
Looking forward to seeing you September 10th.
Yours in Service,
King Lion Denise
