Nā Puʻu Kaulana o Waimea
(The Famous Hills of Waimea)
Welcome to the Waimea Lions Club
Aloha! We are the Waimea Lions Club, where service and community come together with deep cultural roots. Since our founding on February 11th, 1955, the Waimea Lions Club has proudly served the people of Waimea, perpetuating a tradition of giving back, promoting vision health, and strengthening our local community.
Waimea is a place of profound cultural significance. Nestled between the majestic white-capped slopes of Mauna Kea and the green rolling hills of Kohala, this town is rich in Hawaiian history. It was once the heart of the Kingdom of Hawai‘i’s agricultural and ranching industries, and today it remains a symbol of resilience and community spirit. Waimea is home to generations of Native Hawaiian families, who continue to perpetuate the Paniolo (cowboy) lifestyle.
Since its establishment, the Waimea Lions Club has been committed to embodying that spirit of aloha through service. We are part of a global network of Lions clubs, but our focus is local—improving the lives of Waimea's residents and preserving our unique cultural heritage. Our projects range from vision screenings for local keiki to community beautification efforts, all driven by the core Lions principle of serving others.
As we continue to grow and evolve, we invite you to join us in making a difference in Waimea. Whether through volunteering, attending our events, or becoming a member, there are countless ways to contribute to the ongoing legacy of service that the Waimea Lions Club has fostered for nearly 70 years.
Mahalo for visiting, and we hope to see you at one of our upcoming community initiatives!
