The Villa Rica Golden City Lions Club
Villa Rica, Georgia
The Villa Rica Golden City Lions Club held our First Annual "A Taste of Villa Rica".
2012 is here and we are going strong! The Villa Rica Golden City Lions Club along with other Carroll County Lions Clubs, and the Georgia Lighthouse continues to work with the Rapha Clinic to provide free visions clinics for those who would not otherwise be able to have an exam or get eye glasses. Our first Pet Parade and Games in 2011 enabled us to write a check to the Gerogia Lighthouse for the Blind in the amount of $1250.00 our largest check ever - WOW! Our next Pet Parade and Games will be held April 6, 2013 and we are hoping this will be even more successful as the first one! Our Club sent two campers to the Georgia Camp for the Blind this past summer, participated in the Peace Poster & Essay program and sent in two posters as well as an essay. Our newest event for 2012 was "A Taste of Villa Rica" which was organized and put on jointly by the Villa Rica Golden City Lions and the Villa Rica Lions Clubs. This was a huge success for our first year - each club will be receiving $5,500 to support Lions organizations and our community needs!
We are also working with our city Park & Recreation Department and Main Street Department to host our annual Arrival of Santa and Christmas Tree Lighting. Our club will be working to get smaller trees sponsored which will create a "Festival of Trees" along side our big tree, place carolers around downtown and a live nativity put on by the First Baptist Church of Villa Rica. We will also have carriage rides that will take attendees around to hear the carolers and see the live nativity. It will be a joyful event for the entire family!
