In Dallas, Texas, in 1917, at the first Lions Convention, a vision was put into action. A group of business networking clubs came together and imagined that they could do more. Thus began the Lions Clubs Organization. We have since operated with the simple motto:
WE SERVE
In 1925, Helen Keller challenged Lions to become “Knights of the Blind in the crusade against darkness" during the Association's international convention. Today, Lions are recognized worldwide for their service to the blind and visually impaired.
In the years since, Lions have partnered with Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics and many other organizations providing grants and manpower.
While having fun, meeting new people and expanding their own lives, Lions Club members have striven to improve and enhance their community and the lives of their neighbors.
The Lions Club of The Colony was founded in 1979. We provide eyeglasses for needy children in the community, organize and distribute food and toys for the Christmas Food and Toy Drive, host the annual Kids’ Fishing Tournament, and maintain Lions Club Park.
Are you a person who would like to be more involved in your community? Provide service and needed assistance to your fellow man? Join hands with your friends and neighbors in The Colony and the world to make tomorrow a brighter day for your fellow man?
If so, consider joining your friends in Lionism.
