Welcome

from the Shelton Centennial Lions Club

:

  • Our first meeting of 2026 was held on January 19 at the downtown Fire Station at 122 Franklin Street. The February 16 meeting will also be held there (bring your lunch) because the date is on a holiday and the Senior Center will be closed.
  • At the January meeting, two new members Ann Marie Genovese and Randy Neatherlin were inducted into the club by James Reddick our Zone 2 Chair. Give them a warm reception next time you see them. We now have 24 members.
  • Our Apple sale last year netted a nice profit to invest in our community. A Treasurers report was provided by Treasurer Randy Lewis.
  • Guest Speaker Maria Parra director of a group called "Hope Plaza" told of activities they provide including a Resource Fair where we might conduct eye screening, a food bank, youth guidence and even Monthly Zumba sessions for our community. Volunteers are needed. Contact Maria at 360-358-6105 or 360-426-8611.
  • We have adopted the Northcliff Neighborhood Park at 1514 Northcliff Rd. A Lions sign will be posted. Visit the park with a trash bag and help pick up if you're in the area.
  • Tether balls with Lion Logos have been ordered and will be distributed to local schools. Volunteers are needed for the distribution. Contact Eric Onisko for more information 360-561-2297.
  • Progress has been made to authorize an Adopt a Road clean-up, more to come as the county helps us get set up for it.
  • Our Christmas party was a great success. A Thank you Certificate was given to Eric Onisko for working hard to prepare all the good food and sharing his house with us.  Also  a thank you is deserved for all who attended and brought food and to Bill Scholl for preparing and administering a Christmas movie trivia contest . Finally, thank you to everyone who brought Teddy Bears that were donated to the fire Department for their toy drive.
