Who are we?

We are the San Antonio Northwest Lions Club. Our club was founded in 1951 and has been a dedicated local charitable service club for more than 70 years. Our mission is to help those in need and to provide assistance and services to less fortunate children and their families that are living in our service area. Our service area is in the northwest part of San Antonio that also serves Jefferson and Holmes High Schools. 

How we serve our community:

- We have awarded scholarships to graduating Seniors of Jefferson and Holmes High Schools.

- We have provided food assistance to many families with school age children that are within our service area via giving them HEB gift cards, by providing them a meal at a local restaurant , or by delivering food items to their home at Thanksgiving and Christmas time.

- Each year we sponsor several school age children, that are diabetic or that have other handicaps, to the Texas Lion Camp. These children are able to attend at NO expense to the parents. The camp is one of the best summer camps in the Texas Hill Country, located in Kerrville, TX. In the spring, some of our club members help prepare the camp for summer. In June, our club participates with other Lions Clubs in our TX Lions District 2-A2 in providing a picnic meal to the campers, the Texas Lions Camp staff, and to fellow Lions that participate in this service project.

- For many years we have provided schools supplies, gift cards, and other assistance to the staff at eight public elementary schools in our service area.

- We provide an eye exam and eyeglasses referral service for children in need, that are reported to our club by the nurses at these schools.

- For several years our club has supported the Northwest Little League by sponsoring their Challenger League, which caters to youth with physical challenges. Our club also provides generous donations to various district, state, and international Lions foundations and charities each year.
