The International Lions Club was established in 1917 and is now the largest service organization in the world. Salisbury Lions Club was chartered on May 23, 1923. For over 84 years, the Salisbury Lions have been dedicated to serving the community in many ways.
Our primary mission has always been to help those in need to receive eye care, glasses, and hearing aids. Furthermore, we support the Lions Vision and Research Center at Johns Hopkins Hospital/Wilmer Eye Institute, Leader Dogs for the Blind, and the Maryland Eye Bank.
Our club was also instrumental in starting the Blood Bank of Delmarva. In addition, we support the Substance Abuse Program, Wellness Community of Delmarva, Coastal Hospice, as well as numerous youth programs and sports teams. We also provide scholarships to graduating seniors at each of our county high schools.
To support our charitable endeavors, we can be found around a big frying pan cooking chicken at the Salisbury Festival, on the golf course at our annual Golf Tournament, or around Ben's Red Swings hosting our annual Dog Walk. For you "be like Lance" types, we hold our "Knights for Sight" Bike Tour in August.
If you have questions about the Lions Club or would like to join our membership, please feel free to contact any Lions member or officer.
Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization with more than 1.4 million members in approximately 46,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the world.
