Welcome to the Quakertown Lions Club Website
WHO ARE THE LIONS?
Lions are volunteer members of the world's largest service organization where you find fellowship, your leadership capabilities are developed, help is given to many in need, and effort is made to make the community a better place in which to live.
ORIGIN
Lionism began in the United States on June 17, 1917, when a group of 25 independent clubs joined together in Chicago under the guidance of Melvin Jones, an insurance executive. At the 1925 Lions convention Helen Keller asked the Lions to take up her cause and become her "Knights of the Blind". This has been their main concern since that time.
WORLD-WIDE ORGANIZATION
Lions International has more than 1.4 million members in approximately 46,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographic areas around the world.
QUAKERTOWN LIONS
The Quakertown Lions Club was chartered in 1939 by a group of civic-minded individuals to promote the Lions Club objectives while serving their community. The club meets the second Wednesday of each month. At each meeting we have dinner, discuss current and upcoming projects, and on occassion are informed through the presentation of a guest speaker.
Visit our FaceBook page for additional project information and details.
LIONS CLUBS OBJECTIVES
To create and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world.
To promote the principles of good government and good citizenship.
To take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social, and moral welfare of the community.
To unite the clubs in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship, and mutual understanding.
To provide a forum for the open discussion of matters of public interest; provided, however, that partisan politics and sectarian religion shall not be debated by club members.
To encourage service-minded men and women to serve their community without personal financial reward, and to encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce, industry, the professions, public works, and private endeavors.
