Announcement by King Lion Farhad:
Potomac Lions Club of Potomac, Maryland was established in 2007 by a group of service-oriented philanthropists – principally of this geographic area.
In the tradition of Lions Clubs since the inception of Lions in the early 1900s and as per articles and charges established by our umbrella organization - Lions International - our club strives to serve the needy and the community at large monetarily and in-kind – principally directing its services to the medically impaired (e.g. sight-impaired) and the elderly and infirm as well as the dispossessed and disenfranchised. Potomac Lions Club is an active participant in the local community-wide events conducive to stronger community links and cooperation of similar philanthropic entities.
This organization is non-political, non-religious and non-sectarian. Our members give of their time and skills willingly to see that the lives of those less fortunate in Potomac, Maryland – as well as the area-wide cooperation of similar service entities and their statewide liaisons – improve our lot as a whole. In rendering our services we follow the principles historically assembled in our parent organization under the generally understood concept of ‘Lionism’. As such Lionism stands for honest and selfless service to those deserving of such a hand – in turn inclining them also towards a 'service-centered' life.
Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization with more than 1.4 million members in approximately 46,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the world.
