LIONS CLUB OF POTCHEFSTROOM
The Lions Club of Potchefstroom was Chartered (Club no: 97579) in June 2006, and is a registered NPO (074-393) and tax exempt/PBO (930 030 756) organisation and is part of District 410B and is known as the Community Service Club of Choice.
The Club with its core mandate as the “Nights of the Blind” as challenged by Helen Keller in 1917 focus on sight related projects that serve the blind and focus on the prevention thereof, provision of spectacles and other sight related support.
Another focus area since the Club’s charter is the support to traumatized women and children through various initiatives, but mainly the Love Box Project.
The Club also focus on environmental protection and in particular focus on urban greening through tree planting and the “Save the Rhino” anti-poaching campaign.
The Club consists of people of different population groups, and accommodate men and women. The Club is known for its diversity in occupations, where young and old can identify within the Club.
The club have a longstanding relationship with Childline NW, SAPS Child Protection and Family Violence Unit, South African Guide Dog Association, South African National Blood Service and CANSA.
