Port Orange Lions Serve!!
Chartered January 1, 2007
Wearing our yellow vests, you will find Port Orange Lions supporting local events such as Port Orange Family Days and the Christmas Parade. We have also "adopted" Buschman Park and hold clean-up days every other month with the area Girl Scouts. We are developing a sensory trail in the park . We also participate in the Adopt a Highway Program and clean along Dunlawton Ave. from Stonewoods to US 1 four times a year.
Lions will be found raising funds during White Cane Awareness Days at Walmart, Publix, and Winn-Dixie. We also hold an annual golf tournament. Money raised pays for eye exams, eye surgeries, eye glasses, hearing exams, and hearing aides for needy youth and adults in our community. We also support those in need with food donations and gift baskets. Another area of interest is helping the leader dog program.
Eye glass collection boxes can be found throughout the community. Used glasses are cleaned and sorted. Then they are sent to a warehouse in Occoe. From there the glasses are sent where the need is the greatest.
We invite you to join our club!!
