Club History

The Phillipston Lions Club was chartered in November 1976,  sponsored by the Athol Lions Club. Since that time we have changed in size, activities and ways of doing business, but the goal remains the same: To Help Those Less Fortunate Than Ourselves.

Fund raisers have included 120 clubs, money raffles, TV raffles, an annual Cow Flap contest, vollunteer toll booths, Light Bulb sales, Door-to-Door Broom and Rake sales, and of course our monthly Breakfasts

We give scholarships to a few graduating Phillipston seniors each year as well as pencils & candy canes to the Phillipston Elementary students at Christmas time. We also donate Turkeys and Grocery-only certifiactes through the holidays and meals to the elderly at Easter. We have donated to the Phillipston Memorial School gym and numerous families who have had their homes damaged by fire over the years.

We have aided in numerous eye exams and glasses purchases for those who could not afford them on their own as well as referred people to Lions Eye Research and other Lions funds if their needs such as eye surgery were beyond our financial capabilities.

Over the years we have donated to many, many charities including but not limited to: New England Assistance Dogs Service (NEADS), Mass Eye Research, Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF), Spinoza Buddy bear project, Organ transplant funds such as the Lazzarus program at the registry of Motor Vehicles, District 33A Sight & Hearing Fund, District 33A Sightmobile, American Diabetes Association, Clara Barton Camp, Clarke School for the Deaf, Boston to New York Aides Ride, The Phillipston Lassie League, Sight First, Journey for Sight, The Joslyn Clinic, The Phillipston Fire Department, The Templeton Rescue Squad, The Phillipston Firefighters Association, Phillipston Youth recreation Program, The Templeton - Phillipston Elementary Boys Basketball Clinic, National Hearing Ear Dog Center, The Early Childhood Education Program, Phillipston Parent Teacher Group, Templeton Boy Scouts, Phillipston Youth Association, Farm Friens 4H club and many others.
