Patterson Lions will be celebrating 100 years since Helen Keller challenged Lions to be “Knights of the Blind” by hosting a Dining in the Dark FUNdraiser on October 25. Since Helen Keller challenged us back then, Lions across the world have been a global leader in vision care. From sight-saving surgeries and eyeglass recycling to vision screenings and blindness prevention and education, Lions have worked tirelessly to bring the gift of sight to those in need. Hundreds of millions of lives have been changed through Lions’ vision-related work globally, and Lions around the world remain dedicated to working to end preventable blindness and to improve the lives of the visually impaired. During the dinner and presentations, you can put on the mask we supply to see how those with vision difficulties experience everyday tasks many of us take for granted. Wearing the mask during dinner is not mandatory, but it is encouraged. The lights will never be turned off in the room on purpose for everyone’s safety. This will be one of our major fundraisers for the year so that the Patterson Lions can continue to do what we do for our community. All the money raised by this event are used in our community.
