Welcome to the
 Lions Club of New Norfolk
Inc

Lions Australia MD201

Since 1968 - over 42 years
Community Service in the Derwent Valley

New Norfolk is located 37 km north west of Hobart, Tasmania. It is a fascinating historic town full of interesting and unusual attractions. The richness and variety of their historic buildings, the superb Salmon Ponds, the old Oast Houses and the gentle undulations of the countryside on either side of the Derwent River make this one of the most attractive areas in the whole of southern Tasmania.

The Lions Club of New Norfolk Inc was chartered in November 1968 with 22 members. It has been very active throughout its life and has developed a mutually beneficial partnership with the Derwent Valley Council.

All Lions, Leos & Lioness (and Partners) are welcome. It would be appreciated if you could contact our Lion Tamer or Secretary so that the appropriate catering can be organized. Our club has now reverted to a full dinner meeting ($12.00), this comprises main course and either soupor desert depending on the time of the year. The clubrooms are fully licensed for our meetings and has a well stocked bar.

We are the Lions

We meet the needs of our local communities and the world. Lions members  conduct vision and health screenings, build parks, support eye hospitals, award scholarships, assist youth, provide help in time of disaster and much more.

New Norfolk Lions

The Lions Club of New Norfolk has been active since its charter in 1968. It has formed a very strong relationship with the Derwent Valley Council which enables both to work to provide a better community.

The club now owns its own clubrooms in a historic precinct of New Norfolk. Our main source of income is the chocolate wheel which operates at five country shows during a year. We also run two raffles during the year. Major projects carried out by the club since its inception include:

  • Learn to Swim Campaigns
  • Bush Steps
  • Information Bay on Approach to town
  • Tynwald Park
