Melton Mowbray Lions Club

Melton Mowbray Lions Club has served the local community for over 48 years. The club was formed in 1974 and is part of the International Associations of Lions Clubs, the largest service organisation in the world, with over 46,000 local clubs and more than 1.7 million members in 190 countries around the world.

Our club is very active in the local community, running numerous successful fund raising events including our annual popular Swimarathon and Charity Golf Day. Every year, the club puts on a free variety concert for local senior citizens and a Santa’s Grotto for children at the annual Melton Victorian Fayre.

The club is particularly keen in supporting those members of the community less fortunate than ourselves. We run a very successful Melton Schools link programme where we support many school initiatives and less advantaged pupils.

Lions Clubs International:

Now the largest humanitarian service organisation in the world, Lions Club International was founded in 1917, the vision of one man, Melvin Jones, whose guiding principle was, "You won't get very far in this world until you start doing something for somebody else". Lions Clubs have been doing "something for somebody else" for over 100 years and celebrated their centennial in 2017. The guiding principle is now distilled down to the LCI motto, We Serve, and the aim that Where There's a Need, There's a Lion.
