The Battle of Gaines's Mill, sometimes known as the First Battle of Cold Harbor or the Battle of Chickahominy River, took place on June 27, 1862, in Hanover County, Virginia, as the third of the Seven Days Battles (Peninsula Campaign) of the American Civil War.

Your local Lions Club, bringing our Community together.

What is a Lion?  What does a Lion do?  Lions are "ordinary" people like you and me, who care about their community.  Lions are men and women, of any age, who want to serve their local community and help people in need through various service projects.

In 1917, Lions Club International was organized and it has become one of the largest and most active service clubs in the world with over 1.35 million members in 45,000 clubs within 200 countries.  Lions conduct vision and health screenings, build parks, support eye hospitals, award scholarships, assist youth, provide help in time of a disaster, and much more.

The Mechanicsville Lions Club was chartered in June 1974 and have had a very active presence within the Mechanicsville/Hanover community.  For over 30 years, the Mechanicsville Lions Club has been providing eye exams, eye glasses, hearing tests, hearing aids, seeing eye dogs for the blind, and has financially contributed to other service organizations within our community.  The Mechanicsville Lions are proud of the success we have achieved in a variety of projects both locally and international.  Although, we are small in number, our club continues to improve the quality of our community and those in need.

As a Lion, you will have the opportunity to help others, meet new people, and use your talents to make a real impact.  The Mechanicsville Lions are fun loving, community spirited, and are looking for people like YOU to join our club.  Won't you join us in making our community and world a better place?

Feel free to look around our webpage for the many activities that the Mechanicsville Lions is involved to help our community along with people in need.  For further information, please contact any of our Officers as listed below:
