WELCOME TO THE LYNDEN LIONS CLUB WEB PAGE
LYNDEN, WASHINGTON
Our club is part of the world's largest SERVICE organization. We are proud to be a CO-ED Lions club, and 2024 marks our 48th year of serving our community and the world, as part of Multiple District 19, District "H"(the Hallmark District), Zone H1; in July 2023 our zone designation changed from H1 to O5 (that's letter "O" not number zero).
We are also on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/Lynden-Lions-Club-120380674638661 Follow it to keep up to date with the latest activities of the club and see pictures of our events. Check it out.
Flags Program:
We proudly continue our flag program with local businesses and look forward to displaying over 350 flags citywide on 11 holidays this year. The largest concentration of flags is along Front Street in downtown Lynden where over 50 flags are displayed on each of the 11 holidays. This year we celebrate 33 years of our flags program.
LTI Picnic:
The LTI picnic at the LTI picnic grounds is an annual event in early August. This is a private event for LTI employees and their families and is always well attended. Every year 30-35 Club members volunteer to help prepare and serve food and beverages to LTI employees and their families.
Fair Parking:
We park cars at the Fairway Shopping Center for the Northwest Washington Fair. The proceeds from this and other club events enable our club to support more than 20 charities and activities here in Lynden. Our Club shares duty with the Kiwanas Club; the 2024 Fair is Thursday August 8th through Saturday 17th; we had parking duty Thursday 8th through Monday 12th.
Dictionaries:
The Lynden Lions Dictionary project continues to provide dictionaries to all third graders in the Lynden Schools at the beginning of each school year. These Dictionaries also provide facts of the world as well as the Presidents of the U. S., Declaration of Independence, the countries of the world and the solar system, and others. This is for them to keep as their own. Although the 2020 and 2021 distribution had to be handled differently to comply with the Covid regulations, all 3rd graders received their dictionary. 2024 will be our eightteenth year and many previous recipients are still using their dictionaries. A special thanks to Lion Maurene Okane for taking up the gauntlet and coordinating this program with infectious enthusiam!!!
Model Train Show:
The 2024 Model Train and Toy Show will be held on its traditional first weekend in October (5th & 6th) at the Henry Jansen Building of the Northwest Washington Fair Grounds in Lynden, WA. Featuring running displays and Model Train related Vendors from Washington and Oregon and is the best the area has to offer. It is one of the largest Model Train Shows on the west coast and serves as a model to other shows in the region the Lynden Lions Train and Toy Show is the one to see. This is one of our major fundraisers to help local charities so come out and join the fun. Check out our website, www.lyndentrainshow.com. This event owes its success to Lion Rich Kayser and the numerous club members for all their help in putting on this show.
Veterans Dinner:
Each November we celebrate our Watcom County Veterans and have provided a free turkey dinner for them. This has always been one of the Lynden Lions Club's service projects that have been close to our hearts. Due to new Regulations we were no longer be able to have our traditional Veterans Dinner at the Community Center and continute searching for suitable alternative sites.
